The blade and guard is made of tough stainless steel and the handle is made of a durable polymer. The bayonet comes with canvas lanyard that can be attached to a hook on the guard which can also double as a bottle opener. The spine of the blade has a saw incorporated into it proving useful for building shelter there is a rectangle slot on the blade giving the bayonet the ability cut wires if used in conjunction with the lug on the end of the sheath. Unlike most bayonets at the time the AKM bayonet had tools on it that could prove vital in in survival situations. This vintage bayonet was manufactured in east Germany by the soviets post world war 2 particularly during the 1960’s as the new form of Kalashnikov assault rifle the AKM was being produced.
